27.02.2018
On March 1, 2018, iVF Riga Clinic in cooperation with Stem Cell Centre iVF Riga will organize and hold scientific and practical medical conference "Opportunities for using postnatal stem cells in oncology and oncohematology". The target audience of our conference is doctors of various specializations, as well as oncologists, oncohematologists, biotechnologists, laboratory specialists interested in cell technologies issues and wishing to receive the latest knowledge about the possibilities of cell therapy.
With special pride, we would like to announce that iVF Riga clinic provides conference participants with a unique opportunity to get acquainted with the know-how of a famous scientist who came to our special invitation. This is Arnon Nagler, MD, Director of the Division of Hematology; Bone Marrow transplantation and Cord Blood Bank, Chaim Sheba Medical Center (Israel) www.shebaonline.org/doctor/dr-arnon-nagler/. Professor of Medicine at the Tel Aviv University (Israel). In his lecture “Cord Blood Transplantation for Hematological Malignancies focusing on acute Leukemia”, Professor Nagler will share his experience in this field.
The subject of transplantation will continue Alexandra A. Aizenshtadt, PhD, representing Cell Technologies laboratory, North-Western State Medical University named after Mechnikov. She will share the experience of cell therapy in the lecture “Mesenchymal stromal cells and hematopoietic stem cell transplantation.”
The aim of the conference is to tell about not only the species, characteristics and abilities of stem cells, but also about the possibilities of their specific application in hematology, in the treatment of various severe and even considered incurable cancer diseases. It should be noted that bone marrow transplantation in oncology and oncohematology has been used for more than 60 years and is currently considered the standard method of treatment. As for umbilical cord blood stem cells - over 30 thousand transplants have been carried out in the world over the past 30 years.
Dr. Violeta Fodina, iVF Riga CEO and our leading specialist in the fields of gynecology and reproductology, will tell about our Stem Cell Centre and its opportunities and future plans (“iVF Riga Stem Cell Centre is the only national stem cell bank.”)
