• We are the only stem cell centre located right here in Latvia

  Since 2016, Stem Cell Centre operates as a department of the iVF Riga Infertility Treatment and Reproductive Genetics Clinic. It is the first and the only national stem cell bank located in the territory of Latvia, thus it is closer to your baby’s birthplace. All services are regulated in accordance with the legislation of Latvia, and the patient always has an opportunity to ensure that the stem cells are being stored in accordance with the established standards. 

• State Agency of Medicines Certificate and Licence

  Certificate issued by the State Agency of Medicines confirms that our clinic has the permission to obtain and store stem cells in the territory of Latvia. The Tissue and Cell Use Permit No. AC-7 confirms that the laboratory has been evaluated and it complies with the Cabinet of Ministers Regulation No. 1176, dated October 22, 2013 ’’Procedures for the Use of Human Tissue and Cells’’, and it is entitled to carry out laboratory examination, stem cell extraction, processing and storage of stem cells in the territory of Latvia. The acquired Pharmaceutical Licence No. R00053 confirms that iVF Riga laboratory  has been evaluated as a cell therapy product manufacturing facility, it complies with the requirements set forward by Good Manufacturing Practice, and the laboratory has the rights to extract stem cells, multiply them in vitro, as well as freeze and store them in order to develop new medicinal therapy products in accordance with the Regulation No. 1394/2007 of the European Parliament and of the Council on advanced therapy medicinal products, Cabinet of Ministers Regulation No. 304, dated April 18, 2006 ‘Regulations Regarding the Procedures for the Manufacture and Control of Medicinal Products, the Requirements for the Qualification and Professional Experience of a Qualified Person and the Procedures for the Issuance of the Certificate of Good Manufacturing Practice to a Medicinal Products Manufacturing Undertaking’, as well as the Cabinet of Ministers regulation No. 800, dated 19 October, 2011, ‘Procedures for the Licensing of Pharmaceutical Activity’.

• Faster Stem Cell Processing and Storage

  Stem cell extraction, processing and storage is located in one place - the iVF Riga Stem Cell Centre laboratory. Other stem cell banks, which represent foreign banks in the territory of Latvia, are only allowed to receive the materials, carry out the research and forward the obtained stem cells to foreign stem cell banks for further processing, which, in turn, lengthens the process. 
  We deliver the material to a laboratory where stem cell processing and barcode allocation is carried out as soon as possible. Our stem cell centre is located in Riga, thus allowing the parents to quickly get the necessary information about the state of their cell sample.  

• Easy and Painless Stem Cell Extraction

  Umbilical cord stem cell extraction procedure is easy and harmless for both the mother and the baby. In comparison with other cell extraction methods, this process is entirely painless and non-life-threatening - in fact, it is pretty easy, understandable and safe. Stem cell sample is obtained by a specially trained midwife right after childbirth from a material that is usually discarded,
