Nowadays, scientists, including our own Latvian doctors and researchers, are looking for new ways of using stem cell therapy. So far, stem cells have been successfully used in orthopedics and cardiology, as well as in experimental treatments where doctors transplanted bone marrow stem cells. Compared to other cells, the process of obtaining umbilical cord blood cells is not painful or dangerous, as these cells are collected from the material, which is usually discarded right after giving birth. Why throw out this valuable material, if it can be an excellent source for future treatment?
Stored stem cells offer more effective treatment options for patients. The storage of stem cells in the IVF Riga Stem Cell Center ensures that the cells are collected and analyzed in accordance with all established European standards, and safely stored right here in Latvia, in a certified laboratory, which has the most advanced medical equipment in the world.
IVF Riga clinic has extensive experience in handling and storage of biological material; it greatly accelerates and secures the cellular retention process, which involves safe transportation and guaranteed high-quality storage at the required temperature. This is the only national stem cell bank in the territory of Latvia, thus near the birthplace of the baby. It is important to note that laboratory examination, stem cell extraction and storage of stem cells are controlled and regulated in accordance with Latvian legislation. In addition, the patient has the opportunity to verify that the stem cells are stored in accordance with all the set standards.
